Windsurfing

Paros is a popular windsurfing destination, with unique weather conditions, clear waters, and shallow, sandy shorelines, all ideal for surfing. The north winds that blow during the summer create perfect windsurfing conditions on the southern beaches of the island.

While the winds are particularly strong in August, the Mediterranean climate makes it possible for surfers to train in Paros all year round. Golden Beach and New Golden Beach are the best spots for windsurfing, with many international windsurfing races taking place there every summer, followed by Pounda beach and Santa Maria. The Windsurfing World Cup has even been held many times in New Golden Beach, where the large waves are ideal for advanced surfers. These beaches have well-organized facilities and clubs, rescue boats and high-quality equipment for rent, while many certified instructors are available for beginners.
